High flying league giants KCCA would consider signing up celebrated NTV news anchor and reporter Sheila Nduhukire as a brand ambassador PML Daily has learnt.
The soccer-mad Sheila has already endorsed the Lugogo-based side as her local team posting a replica personalised jersey on her Facebook page.
Sheila’s followers mainly fans of other teams, teased her knowledge of the ‘Kasasiro’ side, but she appeared to have it all ready, even indicating she was set for the team’s quest for a domestic double in the Uganda Cup final.
KCCA FC are in Arua ahead of tomorrow’s Cup final against Paidha Black Angels. It is not yet clear whether Sheila will travel to join the likes of KCCA life patron Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago at the Betway Stadium for the match.
Although a club official told PML Daily that there was no such a deal to sign Sheila to the club as ambassador on the table, another official admitted it was “something they would have to look into in the near future.” The official admitted Sheila’s large following as a celebrity journalist would do the club well in terms of marketing its brand.
Sheila’s status has recently shot through the roofs after her closeness to the First Family become a public secret, with the journalist being the first point of contact for the Musevenis.
First Lady Janet Museveni famously gave her exclusive interviews on her differences with Makerere University researcher Stella Nyanzi and on education ministry issues to Sheila and the First Son Muhoozi Kainerugaba is also said to favour the reporter’s coverage of his events.
The idea of signing brand ambassadors has recently become a good undertaking for many teams, with league giants SC Villa signing celebrities like Leila Kayondo and Irene Ntale to market their brands.
The other giant, Express FC, signed singer Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, as brand ambassador and will have their stakes even higher if the celebrated musician wins the Kyadondo East parliamentary by-election that he is contesting in.
Sheila is an avid soccer follower, with her support for Uganda Cranes being almost animated. She is that type of soccer-mad girls who you will find glued to their radios following match commentaries if that were the only alternative available. A one DJ Nesta’s commentaries is said to make her see butterflies in the air.
Across the ocean in the much commercialised English Premier League, Sheila has been a diehard Gunner but Arsene Wenger’s recent penchant for mediocrity appears to have pushed her aside, as she recently announced she was done with heartaches over Arsenal’s inconsistencies.
