KAMPALA – Express FC endured another trying season last campaign.
The Betway financed side were expected to challenge for the top six positions but it would not be the case as they eventually had to settle for 9th.
The 9th spot was also secured after Wasswa Bbosa took over as head coach following the departure of George Ssemwogerere, five games into the second round.
After such a frustrating campaign, the Wankulukuku based outfit is intent on getting back on track.
The process began with them handing Bbosa a three year deal last week.
It is now understood that in an attempt to freshen up the squad, Bbosa and his technical team will draw up a list of 20 players that will be leaving the club.
Most of these players were signed by Ssemwogere and after his time with them, Bbosa does not think they deserve to be at Wankulukuku.
Sadiq Ssekyembe, Lawrence Kigonya, Isaac Doka, Tony Kyamera, David Kakeeto, Shafiq Avemah, Hamis Bateega, Muhammad Yiga, Joseph Ziwa, Enock Ssebagala, Joshua Musoke, Martin Kizza, Joshua Ssetambule, Denis Sserukwaya and Andrew Kiwanuka are some of the players expected to be released.
After creating room for new arrivals, Express are then expected to announce new arrivals.
Top on the list of players coming in include Tooro United FC quadruple of Godfrey Lwesibawa, Charles Musiige, John Byamukama and Faizo Ssekyanzi.
Negotiations between them and the Red Eagles have been on going for a while and deals to sign them will be announced in the next few weeks.
It is also understood that two players from SC Villa and a goalkeeper will also be joining soon.
Express gathered 31 points from 25 games to finish 9th last season.
