Uganda Cranes coach Sebastian Desabre has summoned a team of 23 players that he will work with in the upcoming international friendly window from 27th May- 3rd June. This was during a press conference at the house of football in Mengo on Wednesday morning. It was also confirmed that Uganda will be taking part in a three nations’ invitational tournament in West Africa.
“The main objective of the training camp is to have the players get together before the four Afcon matches between September and November, Desabre said.
Amongest the players summoned, the most surprising is Moses Opondo who plays for Denish first division club, Vendsyssel FF. The 20 year old midfielder is not known to many Ugandans and they will clearly wait to be impressed by him.
Desabre has stuck with the trip of goalkeepers that he used during the last friendly window who include team captain Denis Onyango, Al Merrikh’s Salim Jamal and KCCA custodian Charles Lukwago. In defence, former KCCA FC left back Isaac Muleme has replaced Alex Kakuba who did not impress last time out.
Cape Town City midfielder Allan Kateregga has also been included to the fold along with KCCA FC striker Shaban Muhammad. Shaban has only last year been captain of the u-20 team and his absence in Matia Lule’s Hippos side has been clearly explained with the call up to the senior squad.
