KAMPALA— National Unity Platform (NUP) the political wing of People Power has on Thursday August 13 unveiled six of the national leaders of the party.
These are Dr. Lina Zedriga Waru (Deputy President, North), Jolly Mugisha (Deputy President- West), Mathias Mpuuga (Deputy President Central) and John Baptiste Nambeshe (Deputy President – East).
Mr. David Lewis Rubongoya (Secretary General) while former RDC Ms. Aisha Kabanda is the Deputy Secretary General.
The party leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine congratulated all leaders.
“I am very confident in their abilities to move this revolution to the right direction,” he said, adding “We all have a duty to work even harder for the redemption of our motherland. Freedom is surely in sight.”
The event was held at party headquarters in Kamwokya where NUP members and supporters paid their respects to some of their fallen comrades, who paid the ultimate price for the freedom of this nation.
Relatedly, NUP also received over one hundred eminent leaders into the party.
These leaders included eleven Members of Parliament Mathias Mpuuga, Medard Lubega Sseggona, Betty Nambooze Bakireke, Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi,Joseph Ssewungu Gonzaga, Allan Sewanyana, Veronica Nanyondo and Moses Kasibante.
Other MPs are Sempala Kigozi, Florence Namayanja, and Robina Sentongo.
This means that as of Thursday August 13, the National Unity Platform has 17 Members of Parliament in the present Parliament.
Other eminent leaders included Wakiso District Chairperson Matia Lwanga Bwanika, Dr. Abed Bwanika, Michael Mabikke, Dr. Jose Chameleon real name Joseph Mayanja among others.
