KYAMBOGO- Students of Kyambogo University have staged a strike after the university increased the student’s internship fee.

Initially, internship fee at Kyambogo was Sh 10000. It was increased to Sh150000. The increment was done without consultation from the student leaders.

Student leaders say they have tried all possible means including dialogues on the matter but in vain.

On Monday, the leaders met Prof. Elly Katunguka the university chancellor to discuss the matter but he never appeared.

Sections of leaders also accuse the guild president, Mr. German Amanya for conniving with the administration in implementing draconian policies.

They also accuse him of signing different policies without consulting other leaders.

Following the strike, Police was forced to fire live bullets and tear gas to disperse rowdy students who had gathered at the University Senate building protesting and chanting Katunguka must fall.
