KAMPALA – Mbale Heroes FC has terminated the contract of its head coach Bobic Odowa and his entire staff with immediate effect.
The decision follows a series disappointing results, which officials believe should have come their way. Odowa was relieved of his role as coach after a team’s management meeting on Wednesday.
“We are grateful to Bobic Odowa and his coaching staff for what they have achieved in third time with Mbale heroes,” reads in part of the press release, which the club’s Public Relations Officer, Jose Muhooli, signed.
On Tuesday, Mbale Heroes lost a 0-1 loss to Gadaffi FC in the Uganda Cup round of 32 first leg at the Kyabazinga Stadium – Bugembe. The same team, again lost to Gadaffi in the 2021 Big league, drew 1-1 with Paidha Black Angels before being held to a disappointing 0-0 drew with Calvary at their home base -Mbale Municipal Stadium.
This prompted the angry fans to petition the management of the team demanding the sacking of Odowa.
Odowa formerly played for Mbale Heroes and Express FC. Mbale heroes have three days to appoint a new coach ahead of their next game –the Uganda Cup leg fixture against Jinja military based – Gadaffi FC– scheduled for April 11 at the Mbale Municipal Stadium.
Mbale Heroes’ opponents –Gaddafi, too suspended their technical team – including Frank Ssebaggala and Michael Sebagala for at least one month.
