Defending champions KCCA FC will hope for three points when they return to CECAFA Kagame Cup action on Thursday against KMKM FC at the Azam Complex in Dar es Saalam at 7pm.

The Kasasiro Boys find themselves in a situation where they need to win the game to put their hopes of defending the title they won in Rwanda two years ago, back on track.

Morley Byekwaso’s side got off to a rough start on Monday as they lost their opening game 2-0 to Azam FC.

It was a frustrating match for KCCA as they failed to convert their chances and were made to pay dearly.

Ahead of Thursday’s game, Byekwaso stresses that they need to convert those chances.

“We had a nice game on Monday, one where we created many chances. Byekwaso noted in his pre-match interview.

“In football, results count a lot. They took their chances while we didn’t take ours and at the end they punished us.

“We need to get more clinical in front of goal. We hit the woodwork thrice against Azam FC. We should be scoring all these chances. The players lost it in the second half.”

Monday’s game was KCCA’s first in close to two months but after getting it out of the way, they are expected to get back to their best.

In terms of team news, Emmanuel Wasswa has attained some fitness and may be named on the bench.

Samuel Ssenyonjo who started on the bench on Monday is expected to start in place of Brian Aheebwa.

Juma Balinya who also impressed off the bench is pushing for a start

The other group B game between Azam FC and Messanger Ngozi will be played at 4pm on Thursday.
