Express FC overcame KMKM FC 2-1 in the semi final of the 2021 CECAFA Kagame Cup on Tuesday, August 10.

The Red Eagles who are hoping to win their first-ever Regional trophy, had Eric Kambale to thank for the victory.

The Congolese-born forward, took and converted a 93rd penalty which won the game.

It came after January-signing Martin Kizza who had been outstanding all afternoon, was brought down in the area.

Kambale stepped up and despite the keeper going the right-way, mananged to find the back of the net for his second goal of the competition.

Earlier, Express had struggled to break-down KMKM and half chances were all they could manage in the first half.

KMKM deservedly went ahead on 42 minutes throgh Ibrahim Adullah’s freekick which deflected off Enock Walusimbi and flew past Joel Mutakubwa in the Express goal.

The Red Eagles responded on 55 minutes through a free-kick of their own with Muzamir Mutyaba curling home from just outside the area.

The victory sends Express into their first CECAFA Kagame Cup final since 1995.

They now await the winner between Azam FC and Big Bullets FC in the other semi final that will be played on Wednesday.
