David Ssemujju became the latest Ugandan boxer to be eliminated from the Tokyo 2021 Olympics in Japan.

Ssemujju, lost his round of 32 welterweight bout to Algeria’s Younes Nemouchi on Monday afternoon.

Just like Catherine Nanziri the day before, Ssemujju lost by unanimous decision.

Ssemujju who was the first of two Ugandan Male boxers, to take to the ring, lost all three rounds with all five judges calling the bout 30-27 in Nemouchi’s favour.

It was the second fight between the two fighters after facing off at the Olympics qualifiers in Morocco which the Algerian also won.

Uganda’s last hope for a boxing medal now sits on Shadir Musa Bwogi’s shoulders.

The Bombers’ captain will take on Georgia’s Madiev on Tuesday at 11:30am.

Uganda is seeking for a first boxing medal since John Mugabi won Silver at the Moscow games in 1980.

Overall, Uganda has won just seven medals at the Olympics with the last one coming in 2012 when Stephen Kiprotich won Gold in the Marathon.
