Express FC were crowned their 2020/21 Uganda Premier League crown on Tuesday, July 13.

This was at a ceremony held at Soliz House in Nakasero, Kampala at the head offices of league sponsors Startimes.

Express were declared 2020/21 League champions after the league was discontinued due to a 42-day lockdown imposed in the country because of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Express FC, represented by assistant captain Mathias Muwanga, and Wasswa Bbosa, CEO Isaac Mwesigwa, Board member Ssuubi Kiwanuka among other officials, recieved the league trophy from FUFA President Moses Magogo and StarTimes CEO Franklin Wang

“It has not been a simple journey, I have worked for this like for about four seasons ago,” Bbosa said on winning his first title as a head coach.

“I dedicate this to the late Manager Kinobe. We tirelessly worked all day to see this become a sucess. Its my first time and I am happy.”

Express FC Board Member Ssuubi Kiwanuka, brother to Chairman Kiryowa Kiwanuka stated: “Its a pleasure to win this league title, thanks to StarTimes, you know these things of sponsorship are not easy.

“It has been a very interesting journey and we are happy. We intend to be in this position in every season. We want to raise the Uganda flag high. We are coming back next season stronger.”

Express finished the season on 58 points, one ahead of second-placed URA FC with 26 games played.
