Uganda U-23 men’s national football team, the Kobs, will play their first game of the CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup on Sunday at the Bahir Dar International Stadium.

The tournament kicked off on Saturday, 17th July with Ethiopia and Eritrea drawing 3-3 in Group B.

Ahead of their opener, Kobs head coach Morley Byekwaso is positive that his side will put in a good shift against DR Congo despite their opponents being a good side.

“Our training sessions have been good. There were lots of developmental things we saw. The players have been responding well and you can see the hunger in them,” Byekwaso said.

“We respect Congolese so much because they are really talented and play good football in many aspects but our target is three points.” Byekwaso added.

The Kobs recently camped in Saudi Arabia ahead of the tournament where they played two build-up games.

They are the defending champions of the competition after winning it for a record 15th time in 2019.
