The Makindye West Member of Parliament – MP, Allan Ssewanyana declared on Monday his willingness to contest for the Fufa presidency come August.
Hon. Ssewanyana whose attempt to contest for the same office during the last elections beat a dead end; addressed the media at his Katwe United FC headquarters in Makindye, revealing that he was offering himself as the rescuer of the sport in the country.
“The President shall be no older than 70 years and no younger than 30 years at the moment of the election. They shall have had football administrative experience as defined in the Fufa electoral code for a period of at least seven years within the ten years preceding the elections, must have been resident within the territory of Uganda for two years prior to the elections, be a citizen of Uganda,” reads part of article 39 of the Fufa statute – the very principle that barred Ssewanyana from contesting in the last election.
But he confirmed how he gained all the minimum requirements to serve Ugandan football. He bragged that how his recent Bachelor’s degree in Human resources management was enough to allow him run for the top Fufa office.
Ssewanyana’s declaration brings the total to two so after the incumbent Eng. Moses Magogo announced last week how was interested for a third term of office – since taking over from Lawrence Mulindwa in 2013. Magogo is also an MP elect – representing Budiope East.
