KAMPALA — Centenary Bank Managing Director, Fabian Kasi has commended Buganda Kingdom for the great initiative of nurturing young talent through the annual Masaza Cup Football tournament.
Kasi made the remarks during the 2020 Masaza Cup final, that was held on 6th March 2021, at St. Mary’s Kitende stadium, where Gomba claimed the title by defeating Buddu 3-1.
“Our Bank commends Buganda Kingdom for establishing systems and structures that open up new opportunities for youth in Buganda to flourish through the sport of football,” said Kasi.
He further acknowledged the Kingdom’s continued efforts, to bring communities together through a shared common goal, that is, being part of the Masaza Cup Football tournament and going an extra mile to nature young talent through supporting the sport.
Centenary Bank has for the 6th year running supported the Masaza Cup tournament, and committed UGX 150 million in 2020, which is part of a three-year sponsorship amounting to a sum UGX 450 million. The Bank pledged to continue investing in initiatives that are dedicated towards supporting the communities in which it operates.
The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, applauded the different teams that represented their counties in the 2020 Masaza Cup tournament which was held amidst the unprecedented COVID-19 times, and congratulated Gomba for showcasing prowess, relentlessness and emerging as the 2020 title winners.
The 2021 Masaza Cup tournament is tentatively slated for the 3rd quarter of 2021 and will see over 15 Buganda counties taking part.
