KAMPALA –The final bends for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations –Afcon qualifiers that is likely to determine the chance for some and boost chances for others – start this Wednesday and end on March 30, across the continent.
Uganda host Burkina Faso on Wednesday a St. Mary’s Stadium – Kitende before travelling to Lilongwe to face Malawi on March 29.
The top two in Group B go head-to-head in a potentially essential clash with a win for The Stallions enough to secure their qualification for the Afcon – Cameroon. They top the group after an unbeaten start to the campaign but their cushion over Uganda is just a solitary point. The Cranes go into this encounter on the back of a run of four matches without a win in all competitions and with the away side losing just one of their last ten including friendlies, Burkina Faso should be able to claim at least a point from this clash. But Uganda’s chances are not totally lost with a draw taking both sides into the finals.
The poor results forced federation official suspend head coach Johnathan McKinstry tasking his assistant Abdallah Mubiru to handle the remaining fixture of the qualifiers.
Mubiru told a pre-match press on Wednesday that each member on the knew the importance of the upcoming fixtures
