KAMPALA – The Federation of Uganda Football Associations – Fufa, various partners as well as stakeholders on Tuesday converged at Mengo to determine how teams will face-off in this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup.
The draws staged at the FUFA House – Mengo attracted only teams featuring in the country’s two top tiers – the Uganda Premier League as well as the Big League.
The competition, which kick off on April 5, starts at the round of 32 with teams facing-off on a two-legged format. The round of 32 is arranged to be played between April 5 – 12 on a home and away format.

Fufa partners, who turned up the function included Sonia Karamagi – the Director of Marketing and Communications at Stanbic as well as Daniel Kayongo – who represented Kansai Plascon’s Marketing Department.
Nalule reaffirmed the change in playing format for this year’s competition: “We shall play starting from the round of 32, involving only teams featuring in the StarTimes UPL and StarTimes Fufa Big League. This is so – because of the Covid-19 pandemic.’
Karamagi on her part noted the competition (Uganda Cup) had drastically grown in terms participating teams and organization.
“The Stanbic Uganda Cup has grown in stature. Four years ago as we were announced official sponsors of the Stanbic Uganda Cup, the tournament has witnessed a drastic with the increment in number of teams and organization.
“I am happy that we have a new partner in Kansai Plascon,” said Karamagi.
Stanbic Bank bankrolls this second prestigious tournament in the country as the title sponsor, with Plascon, who came on board last Friday as official paint partners.
The draws handed most of the Uganda Premiership League teams, save for new entrants – UPDF FC ‘weak’ opponents. UPDF has a task to out-muscle Hussein Mbalangu’s Arua Hill, first with an away encounter in Barifa Stadium, before a return in Bombo.
