Wakiso Giants FC 2-2 Kyetume FC

Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Wakiso

Tuesday, 08-12-2020

Wakiso Giants FC fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Kyetume FC at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso on Tuesday.

The Purple Sharks who were hosting their first game of the season trailed to early goals by Baker Buyala and Sharif Saaka.

They however responded through Ibrahim Kasule and Yasin Mugume to earn their second point of the campaign.

However, Wakiso who claim they are chasing this season’s title have already dropped four in their opening two games.

“It is a disappointing result for us as we came into the game expecting to win. Noted Wakiso Giants FC head coach Douglas Bamweyana after the game.

“We were clearly the better side on the day but made some childish mistakes at the beginning and gave them two goals, something we need to avoid in the next games.

“However, that aside, i am happy the boys responded well and recovered, scoring two goals although it is sad that we could not capitalize and win the game.

“We should be having six points in the first two games but that is football, if you do not take your chances, you do not win.”

Wakiso trailed as early as the 10th minute thanks to Buyala’s well taken goal.

They were soon 2-0 down on 16 minutes with Saaka bundling home a Steven Kabuye lay-off.

A minute after the half-hour mark, Kasule pulled a goal back after he was set up by Simon Namwanja.

The leveler came six minutes later through Mugume who connected neatly with a Amos Muwonge cross.

Bamweyana made three substitutions, mid way through the second half, sending on Derrick Emukule, Gadaffi Wahab and Rahmat Ssenfuka in place of Samson Kirya, Kasule and Karim Ndugwa-respectively.

However, they could not find the winner as Kyetume held on to their first point of the season.

The draw is the 5th between the two sides in 7 meetings with either winning only once in the process.

Wakiso now sit 6th on the table, a spot below Kyetume with both side having drawn both of their opening two games.

In their next games, Wakiso are at home to Vipers SC on Saturday while Kyetume travel away to Busoga United FC on the same day.
