George Ssenkaba grabbed the headlines as Express FC beat SC Villa 1-0 on Saturday, December 19.

The former Villa striker netted the winning goal after collecting from the impressive Frank Kalanda.

After a goalless draw, Ssenkaba curled home from just inside the area, past the out stretched Saidi Keni on 47 minutes.

Express were the better side throughout the afternoon and were unlucky to go into the break without the lead.

Eric Kambale headed onto the cross bar off an Arthur Kiggundu cross before Ssenkaba headed wide after he was teed up by Godfrey Lwesibawa.

Kambale also had a goal-bound shot charged down by Moses Kiggundu.

Wasswa Bbosa’s side had chances to add onto their lead in the second half but Kambale showed Keni too much of the ball while in the area before the custodian dived low to save the Congolese international’s fierce drive.

Kalanda who was a constant trouble for the Jogoo’s defence shot over from outside the area while Ssenkaba’s dinked strike just missed the target by millimeters.

Villa who were coming off victory in their last game against KCCA FC played second best as they created so little in front of goal.

Nicholas Kabonge sent a free-kick just over while Isaac Ogwang headed Asuman Harishe’s cross wide.

In the end, Express who were the more industrious of the two sides to the points on the day.

Victory takes Wasswa Bbosa’s side into 5th spot this season with 8 points from four games while Villa are 7th on 7 points from fivw games.
