Eintracht Frankfurt vs Borussia Monchengladbach

Venue Deutsche Bank Park, Frankfurt am main

Tuesday, 15-12-2020 @8:30pm

Monchengladbach have been one of the most impressive teams from the German top flight in recent years. They had qualified for the Champions League as a result of their top-four finish the last season, and they made it worthwhile with winning a ticket to the knockouts of the competition.

Note that they had made it possible despite being included in a group of death that included Real Madrid, and Inter Milan.

As of now, they are placed seventh in the Bundesliga table – just outside of the coveted top-six positions, that would allot an entry into European competitions next year.

However, the sixth-placed Union Berlin are taking on defending champions Bayern Munich, and thus Marco Rose’s men have an opportunity to climb higher up the standings.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are one of the least impressive squads in the contest at the moment. They are one of the rare teams in the German top flight to stay winless in the last five match-days.

On top of that, Frankfurt also take note that they have an embarrassing h2h record against this opponent over the years.

The Colts recorded a 1-3 win on the road in the latest encounter. The game had taken place just six months back. They also had won three of the preceding four clashes, and had scored three or more goals in all these games. They had also posted 13 of the former 18 overall wins. Since 2009, the hosts have won just twice at this venue.

Hertha Berlin vs Mainz 05

Hertha have recently improved their form by a huge margin. They used to be a struggling lot in the starting phase of the season, but have started to slowly and consistently post points on the board. And as a result, they are rising up the table gradually.

This Tuesday, they have a great opportunity to extend their recent impressive run by one more game week. The reason being – at home, they are pitted against one of the worst teams in the whole competition – the 05ers.

These guests of the day are placed 17th in a table of 18, and they have a single win all through this season. They also have conceded the second-most number of goals of all the teams in the contest, and have been a disaster on the road as well this season.

The last three games had goals from both teams, and three or more goals as well. Jan-Moritz Lichte’s men have failed to score just once against this opponent in the past eight encounters. At this venue, the hosts had recorded nine of the preceding thirteen victories. The home team had scored two or more goals in three of their last five encounters.

Werder Bremen continues to drop points in the campaign with a double loss in the end.

The host has picked up 11 points from 2 wins and 5 draws in their ten league clashes. Despite the winless streak, they have scored in their last five games in the schedule.

Borussia Dortmund hasn’t been at their best in the league and lost 5-1 at home to Stuttgart last weekend, prompting the sacking of Lucien Favre as their manager.

The away team has won only two of their recent five fixtures in the campaign. Their winless streak in the league for the past two clashes will put them in a tough spot prior to an away game.

Three of their last five matches have ended in a draw. Their previous encounter gave a 0-2 away game for Dortmund. The visitor has recorded three of the last five overall wins. Both teams have scored in 14 of their last 15 fixtures. The host has won only one of their recent seven matches.

Three of their last four fixtures have ended in a draw. Both teams have scored in three of their last four matches. Their previous encounter resulted in a goalless draw. The host has been unbeaten for their past four fixtures.
