It hasn’t been the best of starts for Hoffenheim who have only won 2 of their 9 games played so far but a win could lift the club on the edges of a top 10 place depending on other results as they take on Augsburg at home on Monday night.

Hoffenheim have no victories from their last 5 games and have only picked up 3 points from their last 15 available. Last weekend they managed a 1-1 draw away to Mainz but Mainz are having a worse season than Hoffenheim presently.

Hoffenheim are in 13th place and at home they have won just 25% of their games. Their last home match ended in an exciting 3-3 draw against Stuttgart.

Augsburg are having a better season in 8th place but there are fine margins and in fact the club are only three points ahead of their hosts.

Augsburg have drawn their last two games coming into this one and overall recent form is not good with just 5 points earned from five games.

The hosts have six players ruled out through injury. Pavel Kaderabek (calf), Ermin Bicakrik (knee), Benjamin Hubner (ligament), and Konstantinos Stafylidis (shoulder) are all ruled out. Sargis Adanmyan and Jacob Brunn Larsen have both tested positive for COVID-19 and are in isolation. Midfielder Denis Geiger will also sit out the fixture following his three-game suspension after his red card against Mainz.

The visitors have a host of injury concerns and no fewer than six players will sit out the clash with Hoffenheim. Alfred Finnbogason (ankle), Mads Pedersen (muscle), Noah-Joel Sarenren-Bazee (knee), Fredrik Jensen (ankle), and Jan Movarek will all be unavailable for selection. Forward Andre Hahn recently tested positive for COVID-19 and will have to enter his mandatory period of self-isolation.

Last season this fixture saw six goals and ended 4-2 to Augsburg. Hoffenheim have scored 9 goals past Augsburg in the last three league meetings.
