Uganda Premier League
Express FC vs Bright Stars FC
Betway Mutessa II Stadium, Wankuluku
Saturday, 12-12-2020 @4pm
Express FC will be hoping to win their first game of the current season when they play host to Bright Stars FC on Saturday.
The Red Eagles were made to work for a draw against Onduparaka FC in their opening game as they had captain Enock Walusimbi sent off in the first half.
Against Bright Stars FC, they have a good chance to registering their first victory and put their ‘title chasing’ campaign back on track.
However, they have won only one of their last 7 meetings with the Matugga based side.
“We respect Bright Stars FC beacuse they have a good coach and decent players and always give Express FC issues but i personally i have a good record against them and always beat them when i am home. Said Express FC head coach Wasswa Bbosa in the pre-match interview.
“We have prepared well for them and i am positive we will win the game.
“We failed to win in our opening game but this is a marathon and we are still very much chasing our target of trying to fight for the title and like what i said, in three years, i have to win the league title for this club.”
The Red Eagles who are without the suspended Walusimbi will also not have Ibrahim Kayiwa and Mahad Yaya in their ranks. Kayiwa was injured in the game against Onduparaka while Yaya is yet to feature due to a knee injury.
For Bright Stars, they are also chasing their first victory of the season.
They lost 2-1 at home to KCCA FC on opening day before drawing 0-0 with URA FC earlier this week.
The two sides will be facing off for the 15th time since their first match-up in 2013.
In that period, Express have won four games, Bright Stars three (including a penalty shoot-out victory in the cup) with the other eight all ending in draws.
Last season, Express beat Bright Stars 3-1 at Wankulukuku before drawing 1-1 in the second game.
