The Uganda Hippos will be hoping to secure the 2020 CECAFA U20 title when they take on Tanzania on Wednesday, December 02.

The two sides reached the final of the competition after comprehensive victories in their respective semi-final match-ups on Monday.

Uganda beat Kenya 3-1 while hosts and defending champions Tanzania defeated South Sudan 1-0.

For Uganda, it is a huge opportunity to prove their progress in under-age football, in recent times, having failed miserably in 2019 when they were knocked out at the quarter final in a tournament that they hosted in Gulu.

After a disappointing 0-0 draw in their opening game against South Sudan, the Hippos have exhibited great improvement.

They humbled Burundi 6-1 in their final group game before victory over Kenya in the semis.

Against Tanzania, they face arguably their biggest test as the young Taifa Stars triumphed in the competition last year.

“I anticipate a great game of football. Noted Hippos head coach Morley Byekwaso ahead of the game.

“Both countries have good players and the better side on the day will win the trophy.”

Uganda will be hoping Proline FC striker Ivan Bogere inspires them to victory like he has done in the recent past.

Bogere who is one of the most highly rated players on the team has scored four goals so far in the competition, netting a brace each against South Sudan and Kenya.

Both Uganda and Tanzania have already sealed slots in the AFCON U-20 finals’ tournament that will be hosted in Mauritania next year.
