Monday night football in the Premier League will see just one game as Brighton and Hove Albio try to build on last weekend’s result of drawing against Liverpool and move up the table, against Southampton.
The Seagulls form is good coming into this match with just one defeat from their last five. They are in 16th place and four points from the bottom three though all that could change at the weekend before they have to play.
Whilst Brighton would not move up a place if they win they would put a little more distance between themselves and the threat of relegation, and add to their confidence.
Overall home form has been poor for Brighton with no wins as of yet however they have drawn their last three matches in a row.
Southampton have gone their last two games without a win, which is unfortunate as they have been a surprise package so far and are currently in sixth place.
Last weekend the Saints lost 3-2 against Manchester United and this was a poor result for them given that they were leading the game 2-0 with just 30 minutes left to play.
Still they have picked up 10 points from their last 15 available and away from home they are unbeaten in their last four which makes them a danger here.
Brighton will monitor the fitness of Neal Maupay, who was forced off against Liverpool with a hamstring problem. Tariq Lamptey is back from a ban but Adam Lallana is ruled out after injuring his groin at Anfield, while this game may come too soon for Davy Propper and Alexis Mac Allister.
Southampton will assess Danny Ings, who returned to full training on Thursday after a month out with a knee injury. Nathan Redmond may also come back into contention following a hamstring issue.
Last season Southampton won this fixture 2-0. Brighton have not beaten Southampton since 2012 going back 9 games.
