Brest vs Lille
Stade Francis Le Ble, Brest
Sunday, 07-11-2020 @3pm
Last weekend Brest recorded their sixth loss of the Ligue 1 campaign already and also it was the clubs 3rd loss in a row and they come into this encounter in 14th place.
Rennes were the latest team to beat them and that followed a 3-0 loss at home to Strasbourg. Brest return home where last season they made their stadium very difficult to win at but with no fans being allowed into stadiums they have seen just a 50% win rate so far.
Although a win at the weekend will be a major boost for the club it would only move them up one place and this season could already be turning out to be a hard slog for the club. They will have to keep focused.
Lille are in 2nd place and just 2 points behind PSG but the club have dropped 4 points in their last two games with two draws in a row. That has lost them any advantage that they briefly had over the French champions.
Still Lille will surely come into this game on a high after they went to Italy in midweek and beat AC Milan 3-0. It was a fantastic away win and shows the courage and quality of this Lille team.
Lille remain the only club in Ligue 1 who are still undefeated and they have earned 11 points from their last 15 available.
Last season Lille won this fixture 2-1. Lille has won the last 3 meetings in a row against Brest. Brest have not beaten Lille since 2012. Two from the last 3 meetings have ended with the correct score of 1-0 to Lille.
Lens vs Reims
Stade Bollaert-Delelis, Lens
Sunday, 07-11-2020 @5pm
Four games without defeat ended for Lens in their last game when they lost 4-0 to Lille. The club have actually not played a game in the league since October 18th as so many of their players have got Coronavirus and their scheduled games had to be postponed.
Whilst the club would have had some rest they will also be quite rusty coming into this match but they do have 2 games in hand of other teams above them. In theory they could be 2nd if they win their extra games so there is a lot to play for.
At home is where Lens have built up their points and they have a 100% record here with wins over Saint Etienne, Bordeaux and at the beginning of the season PSG.
Reims have started very poorly but there are hints that the club could be turning a corner. They have climbed up to 15th place after winning back to back games beating Montpellier and Strasbourg and the club come here with some confidence.
Reims have actually earned more points away than at home and have gone their last two undefeated and gone to Rennes who have been impressive this season and claimed a 2-2 draw.
The last time the clubs played here the game ended 1-1. Reims have not won at Lens since 2017.
Lorient vs Nantes
Stade Yves Allainmet, Loreint
Sunday, 07-11-2020 @5pm
Lorient come into this game in 16th place and some of their recent results have been encouraging but their main problem has been inconsistency.
In their last game they drew with Dijon which was not seen as a good result but they are trying to pick up the points and the newly promoted sides objective has to be survival and nothing else this season.
At home Lorient have only won 1 game from the 4 played and that was their first match when they beat Strasbourg, they haven’t won at home for 3 games in a row with their last match here finishing in a 1-0 loss against Marseille.
Nantes have nose dived into 17th place and have lost 3 of their last four games. Last weekend they were defeated 3-0 at home to PSG but that was probably expected. On the road though they are yet to win and from a possible 12 points they have won only 1, that is the worry for the club.
Nantes have won the last 3 league meetings against Lorient. There is a 60% chance of seeing both teams to score. Lorient haven’t beaten Nantes when at home since 2013.
Metz vs Dijon
Stade Saint-Symphorien, Metz
Sunday, 07-11-2020 @5pm
It was a surprise to see Metz coach Vincent Hognon leave his post because the club has started the season well.
They are in seventh place and just one point from 5th. They have won 4 games this season and are on a great run with no defeats in their last five games.
Metz will be the favourites to win at the weekend as they face the club in bottom place who have failed to win so far this season. Metz could move to 5th with a win and at home they have the sixth best record in the league and have won their last 3 games here in a row.
Dijon remain bottom and last weekend they drew 0-0 with Lorient. Losing runs have stopped for the club as they have picked up three draws in their last five games but they are still waiting for their first victory of the season.
On the road Dijon have lost every game that’s zero points from a possible 12 and they have scored just one goal and conceded 12.
The teams have not played each other in this stadium since 2017 when Dijon won 2-1. 3 from the last 5 league games have ended in a draw.
Nimes vs Angers
Stade des Costieres, Nimes
Sunday, 07-11-2020 @5pm
Nimes come into this fixture in 18th place after a poor recent few weeks as they have lost their last 3 games in a row.
Those defeats came against Bordeaux, Metz and PSG and the clubs last victory was back at the beginning of October when they surprised Montpellier.
It would only take a couple of victories to change Nimes perspective and it being so early in the season they have the chance to recover though they will face a tough opponent. At home Nimes have won just 1 game in their 5 played and have no wins here in their last four games.
Nimes last home game ended in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Metz who themselves are in good form.
Angers started well but have shown too much inconsistency in recent weeks and have fallen to 11th position. They were beaten last weekend at home against Nice with that match finishing 3-0 and that feels like a real wake up call for a side who want to establish a good home record.
Away from home Angers have a 50% win rate which isn’t too bad and their last away game ended in a great 2-1 win at Rennes.
Last season Nimes won this fixture 1-0. Angers have not won here in the league since 2013.
Nice vs Monaco
Allianz Riviera, Nice
Sunday, 07-11-2020 @7pm
The infamous derby in the south of France will take place on early Sunday evening when Nice take on Monaco and there will be no love lost between these two teams.
Nice are in 4th place with 17 points and apart from a small blip have started the season very well. The club have recorded 5 wins from their first 9 games and could go into the top 3 with a win.
Form is good with 11 points earned from their last 15 and there have been no defeats since mid September.
Monaco have been more hit and miss, looking good one week only to lose the next. But having said that if they were to win this game they would go level on points with Nice.
Last weekend Monaco received a good confidence boost and beat Bordeaux 4-0. However the clubs problems clearly are away from home where from 4 games played they have lost 3 and that includes losing their last three in a row.
Nice won this fixture last season 2-1. Monaco have not won at Nice since 2015 and that is going back 5 games. There is a 70% chance to see over 2.5 goals. From the last six league meetings Monaco has just 1 win.
Olympique Lyon vs Saint Etienne
Venue Graupama Stadium, Lyon
Sunday, 07-11-2020 @11pm
The big game to close out another weekend in France will be between Lyon and Saint Etienne.
Lyon have no defeats in their last 5 games which is good but the club have drawn three of them and as a result are just off of the current pace being held by PSG and Lille.
Lyon has 14 points and they could go 10 points behind PSG if they don’t win this match- 10 points is a huge difference already with 10 games played and the club will certainly be looking to win this game.
Last weekend Lyon showed their qualities by drawing 1-1 away to 2nd placed Lille and their last home game finished in a fantastic 4-1 win over Monaco, a potential top 4 rival.
Saint Etienne started the season well but what a nightmare period they are now going through. They have fallen to 13th place and lost 5 straight games in a row.
Their latest loss came at home against Montpellier and their last away game ended in a 2-0 defeat at Metz.
Last season Lyon won this fixture 2-0. Saint Etienne have not won at Lyon since 2014.
