Uganda Cranes duo of Alex Kakuba and Ikpeazu Mubiru have been ruled out of the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.

Uganda is slatted to face South Sudan in a double header this month but the two will not feature.

It is understood that Kakuba who features in the Portuguese League, will miss out due to a positive Covid-19 test.

For Uche, the striker picked an injury on Friday during training with his English Championship side-Wycombe Wanderers.

The duo have been part of the 20 foreign based players that were summoned last month.

Their absence was confirmed by Cranes head coach Johnathan McKinstry.

“Unfortunately, Uche sustained an ankle injury on Friday training preparing for their game against Nottingham Forest. McKinstry told UG Sport.

“It looks like he is going to be down for few weeks so he will not be able to join us.

“In additional to that, Alex Kakuba will not be able to join us as well, its so frustrating but we have other players who will compete for a position which also gives them a change to represent Uganda.”

Uganda will host South Sudan on November 12 at the St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende before travelling to Kenya for the second game.

Uganda currently tops group B with four points while South Sudan are bottom after losing both of their opening games.
