The Uganda Hippos registered their maiden victory at the 2020 CECAFA U20 Challenge Cup on Wednesday.

Morely Byekwaso’s side thrashed Burundi 6-1 in their second group B game at the Shiekh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha.

Ivan Bogere and Isma Mugulusi each netted a brace on the day while Najib Yiga and Joseph Bukenya scored the other two goals.

The only dark spot on the day was the team’s inability to keep a clean sheet as the conceded an injury time goal.

However, it was a great display by the team and one that surely elevates their hopes after drawing 0-0 with South Sudan on Monday.

Uganda now has 4 points from 2 matches ahead of the final group B match on Friday when South Sudan takes on Burundi at the same venue.

The top placed team qualifies for the Semi finals. Uganda will now keep an eye on the final group match between South Sudan and Burundi for a place in the last four stage.
