The Uganda Hippos hot their CECAFA U20 Challenge Cup off to a draw as they were held to a 0-0 stalemate by South Sudan on Monday, November 23.

The Hippos could not get the better of their South Sudan counterpart in a dull encounter played at the Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha, Tanzania.

Morley Byekwaso’s side played most of the encounter with 10 men after KCCA FC defender was sent off with 10 minutes to play in the opening period.

In what was a tense game, Richard Basangwa, Ivan Asaba, Bobosi Byaruhanga and second half substitute Ivan Bogere had chances to score but could not convert.

This was the Hippos’ opening game of the tournament and will return to action against Burundi on November 25 is what will be a must win contest.
