We will beat Cameroon and reach the World Cup – Nalukenge

KAMPALA – The Uganda National U17 Girls football team have intensified preparations for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Over the weekend, they continued with training at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo.

The team is gearing up for their qualification tie with Cameroon which starts later this month.

With head coach Ayub Khalifa self isolating, Hadijja Namuyanja has taken over the coaching duties, helped by Olive Mbekeka and James Magala.

With the first leg slatted for 31st October, team captain Juliet Nalukenge says they are more than ready for the contest.

“We had a brilliant training session today (Sunday). She said.

“The players are well and making sure we are well prepared for the game against Cameroon later this month.

“The coaches are doing their best in terms of preparing us and we are also giving 100%.

“Our target is to overcome Cameroon and progress to the World Cup.”

Uganda is set to host the first of the two legged fixture with the return leg due in mid November in Cameroon.

The winner over two legs, will-together with two other countries represent Africa at the World Cup finals to be hosted by India early next year.
