The National Council of Sports (NCS) Chairman, Donald Rukare flagged off Uganda’s team slatted to take part in the 2020 World Half Marathon.
This was at an event held at the NCS offices on Wednesday, October 14.
The team is slatted to take part in the event that will be hosted in Gdynia, Poland on Saturday.
This year’s event was slatted to take place on the 29th of March but was postponed due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
Uganda will be represented by both the men and women teams.
The men’s team comprises of Jacob Kiplimo, Moses Kibet, Abel Chebet, Joshua Cheptegei and Stephen Kissa.
The women’s team will comprise of Juliet Chekwel, Doreen Chemutai, Doreen Chesang and Rachael Zena Chebet.
It is understood that team Uganda has been fully funded by the government ahead of the 24th edition of the World Half Marathon.
At the previous edition in Valencia, Spain, Uganda finished 5th in a combined time of 3:06:15, just under 4 seconds behind winners Ethiopia.
