Rennes vs Brest
Roazhon Park, Rennes
Saturday, 31-10-2020 @7pm
Rennes will be the favourites to win this game but we should be clear on their current form and the club come into this game with no wins in their last 3 matches.
They have slipped to 3rd place as a result but at the same time are only 3 points behind the leaders PSG.
Last weekend was a shock as Rennes fell to their first defeat of the season and it was at home as they lost 2-1 to Angers, not many people would have seen that coming.
Rennes only had 1 shot on target the whole game and that disappointing display followed draws against Dijon and Reims with both of those clubs at the bottom of Ligue 1.
It is a bit confusing to see the loss of form from the home side but a win at the weekend that would see the pressure being lifted from the club.
Brest come into this game in 14th place and they have 9 points. Form is concerning as they have lost 3 of their last four games and that includes back to back ones.
Last weekend Brest were beaten 3-0 at home to Strasbourg and their home is where they are supposed to be picking up points, this match looks like being a very tricky one for the club who have already lost 3 matches on the road from the four played.
Last season this match ended 0-0. The last 3 league meetings have all been under 1.5 goals. Brest have not beaten Rennes in the league since 2011.
Nantes vs PSG
Stade de la Beaujoire, Nantes
Saturday, 31-10-2020 @11pm
Saturday night will see Nantes having to play one of their toughest games of the season when they take on PSG.
Nantes have only won 2 of their seven games played so far and come into this game in 15th place. Although last weekend they won beating Brest 3-1.
That ended a 2 game losing run and if they were to create a shock here they could climb 3-4 places depending on other results.
Home form has been good and despite a slow start Nantes are unbeaten in their own ground with two wins and a draw. Although they have conceded a goal on each time they have played.
PSG are top of the league as usual after a slow start they have regained their form and have won their last 5 games in a row. Though for now Lille are sticking with them and both clubs come into this weekend with 18 points each.
Last weekend PSG easily overcame Dijon winning that game 4-0 and in midweek they traveled to Turkey and beat Istanbul in the Champions League winning that match 2-0.
That was an important victory for last seasons Champions League finalists as they had lost their opening game against Manchester United.
Last season this fixture ended 2-1 to PSG. From the last 17 league games PSG have won 16 of them with Nantes claiming one victory. 5 from the last 8 league meetings have seen under 2.5 goals.
