Kitara FC will be the third team gaining promotion to the Uganda Premier League.

After UPDF FC and MYDA FC had earlier secured their tickets to the elite league of football in Uganda, Kitara did likewise on Wednesday.

The Hoima based side had to overcome a spirited Kiboga Young outfit, whom they beat 1-0 in the Big League playoff final played on Wednesday, October 21 at the FUFA technical center in Njeru.

Striker Brian Mayanja grabbed the headlines and cemented hero’s status in the hearts of Kitara fans as he scored the only goal of the day.

After a goalless first half, Kayanja rose highest to head home a Maxwel Owachangui cross on 55 minutes.

Kiboga who had impressed in their semi final come-back victory over Ndejje University, could not level matters and hence settle for another season in the Big League.

Speaking after the game, Mark Twinamatisko the head coach of Kitara saluted the character of his charges.

“We played our hearts out and the players were all committed. I salute them in a special way.” Twinamatisko stated.

This will be the first time Kitara rubs shoulders with the big boys of Ugandan football in the Uganda Premier League.
