BUKEDEA — Football lovers in Teso sub region are grieved after famous Bukedea Town Council Football Club change its name to Blacks Power Football Club.
The name was reportedly changed without any consultation being made and the club officials allege that they want to give the community to own the club.
“We are not fighting because the name was changed, in fact we are happy that we are finally independent but the choice of the name is extremely awkward! We need to have the rights to suggest the name. Blacks Power name has made us lose our identity, we no longer have pride while praising our football club. So we want them out of Bukedea,” one aggrieved fan told this reporter.
Additionally, they have warned the club to stay away from all the playing grounds in Bukedea. They want them to find other alternative of the training ground as well as the home ground, Emokori.
Other fans who spoke to this website on condition of anonymity appealed to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) to swing into action and stay the name Bukedea Town Council until the right marketable name is finally agreed.
It should be noted that Bukedea TC is among the 11 football clubs that the FUFA Executive Committee approved on September 15, 2020.
