30 Girls summoned ahead of U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers

The Uganda U17 Women’s national side technical team has summoned 30 players ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Uganda is slatted to take on Cameroon later this month in the first leg of the qualifiers, which will determine one of the nations to represent Africa at the FIFA U17 Women World Cup.

It is understood that the team will start preparations on Monday, October 5 to ensure they are in the best shape possible to face their West African counterparts.

The whole squad plus officials will reside at Paradise Hotel after undergoing COVID-19 tests as guided by the Government.

The core of the team that has been summoned includes players that played in the previous qualifying rounds against Ethiopia and Tanzania.

However, the coach has also named new faces including Gift Nasasira (Maroons WFC), Winnifred Kwatulira (Jinja United FC), Devine Mirembe (Asubo Gafford Ladies FC) and (Kamuyati Naigaga) among others.

After the first leg in Kampala, Uganda will then travel to Cameroon for the return-leg due in mid-November.

Daphine Nyayenga- Uganda Martyrs High School, Joan Namusisi – Isra Soccer Academy, Zulaika Ngamita – Asubo Gafford Ladies.

Defenders

Grace Aluka – Kawempe Muslim Ladies, Samalie Nakacwa – Kawempe Muslim Ladies, Sumaya Komuntale – Tooro Queens, Bira Naddunga – Olila High School, Gillian Akadinda – Olila High School, Gloria Namugerwa – Uganda Martyrs High School, Stella Musubuka – Kawempe Muslim Ladies, Patricia Akiror – Ajax Queens FC.
