KAMPALA — Lionel Messi would like to spend the next season at Manchester City after leaving Barcelona this summer, according to Marcelo Bechler. The club confirmed the news on Tuesday night when the six-time Ballon d’Or winner stunned the football world. Lionel Messi has played for Barcelona since he was thirteen years old, helping the club win several titles. That has also made him among personal favorites when betting on goalscorers at Betway.

Currently, Messi receives a weekly wage of nine hundred and eighty-eight thousand pounds. As such, his salary is a major stumbling block to his departure, according to Barcelona. Still, the clubs with the financial clout of Manchester City, Manchester United; Paris Saint-German and other sides in china are on red alert.

Manchester city believes they are the frontrunners to sign Messi. That is because it would see the thirty-three-year-old reunite with Pep Guardiola, his former coach at Barcelona.
The Argentinian had the best years of his career at Barcelona when pep Guardiola was in charge of the team. The two had already been in contact about the move this summer, according to reports in Spain.

Additionally, Messi has a great relationship with Mancity’s chief executive Ferran Soriano, who previously worked at Barcelona too.
Messi’s relationship with two club officials boosts Manchester City’s confidence on signing the Argentinian star. If signed, Messi would be expected to continue with his exemplary performance in the EPL, as fans continue enjoying Betway sports betting on all major leagues.

Messi is required to pay a certain fee if he decides to walk out of the club this summer, according to Barcelona. However, Messi believes he can walk out from Barcelona for free this summer. That’s due to a clause in his contract, which is supposed to expire next summer.

The representatives of the thirty-three-year-old sent a particular fax to Barcelona board on Tuesday afternoon outlining Messi’s intention to walk away from Camp Nou this summer. According to the understanding of the standard sport, the clause expired in June. However, Messi was obligated to inform the club of his departure in May.

Due to the world’s pandemic, the season was extended in an unprecedented turn of events. However, according to the forward’s interpretation, the clause would be applicable until the end of August 2020. That is due to the extension of the league.

The Barcelona board is confident that the clause has expired. They insist that the player can only leave if another club pays his release clause, which stands at seven hundred million euros which translates to six hundred and twenty-nine million pounds. A legal battle is most likely to follow between the player and the club.

Messi had previously expressed his frustrations on several occasions in recent months. That is due to the appointment of the new manager Ronald Koeman. The situation has boiled over.
According to RAC1 radio, Messi feels out of the team. At the same time, the newspaper Diario AS sensationally reported the new Barcelona head coach told the Argentinian star that his privileges in the club are over.
Messi’s relationship with Barcelona appears to be broken beyond repair. Fans remain desperate for the player to stay in the club. Fans gathered outside camp nou to protest against the board to show support to the club’s record goalscorer. That’s after the fans heard about the forward leaving.
