KAMPALA — Pay Television Company StarTimes will broadcast NBA 2019/20 season which resumed after nearly five months, StarTimes Uganda Marketing Director, Isma Lule has said.

ESPN channel, a popular sports channel on StarTimes will broadcast all the games, with no fans in attendance due to social distancing requirements.

Mr Lule noted that basketball is rapidly gaining popularity in Uganda, that the company is excited to bring the best Basket ball league in the World to Ugandans.

“Stars like James Lebron and Giannis are such an inspiration in the basket Ball community. The Action will be live on ESPN Channel on Classic , Smart Bouquet and on Smart phone via the StarTimes GO App,” he said.

Only the best 22 of the leagues 30 teams will participate with each team playing eight games to finish the regular season.

From these, the top seven teams in each conference will advance, with the final eighth seed in each conference being determined by a potential play-in tournament before the traditional 16-team playoffs.

LeBron James’ LA Lakers are the outstanding favorites to take the title.

When the NBA season was postponed, the Lakers sat atop the West with a 49-14 mark.

In the West, the other contender is the Clippers. Prior to the beginning of the 2019-20 season, the Clippers were considered favourites to win the title after they added to their ranks Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

The only squad with a better mark than the Lakers is the Milwaukee Bucks. Led by the Greek Freak Giannis Antetokounmpo, they have benefited from playing in the significantly weaker Eastern Conference.

Lule said NBA on StarTimes is a continuous assurance to customers, that “we shall always give you affordable quality sports”.
