KITENDE – Just a day after announcing the capture of Disan Galiwango from Express FC, Viper SC have signed another player.
The player in question is Mbarara City FC midfielder Ibrahim Orit.
Orit’s signing was announced by the Venoms via their official website on Thursday afternoon.
The 22 year old put pen to paper on a three year deal that will keep him at Kitende until 2023.
Orit who had ran out his contract with the Ankole Lions boosts a midfield that is already oozing with quality and becomes the second Mbarara City FC player to join Vipers in the past six months, following in the footsteps of Paul Mucurezi who also did like wise earlier this year.
Speaking after signing for the reigning Uganda Premier League champions, Orit labelled the move a ‘dream’ and one that was easy to say yes to.
“I am happy to be here as it has always been my dream to feature for this competitive club and when the coach called to express his interest, it wasn’t a hard decision to make. Orit remarked.
”Allow me also thank the Mbarara City administration for the wonderful time i have had with them and all fans for the love they showed throughout my stay at the club.”
Orit also becomes Vipers second signing under head coach Fred Kajoba as he tries to fill all yawning gaps identified during the few months he has been at the club helm.
Kajoba joined Vipers SC earlier this year, replacing Edward Golola who was deemed unfit to manage the four time league champions.
Orit’s career started at Junior Eagles football academy in the North East town enroute to Future Stars a regional league team from where Mbarara City spotted him acquiring his services in 2017.
His arrival leaves the future of several players in question at Kitende. Allan Kayiwa, Brian Kalumba, Abraham Ndugwa and Denis Mwemwesi are some of the players who will have to prove their worth so as to retain a spot in the team.
It is reported that Orit’s deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes and his squad number will be confirmed soon.
Vipers SC were crowned Uganda Premier League champions last month after it was announced that the last five games of the season would not be played due to the on-going Coronavirus in the country.
After 25 games, they were leading the league with 54 points, four ahead of second placed KCCA FC.
