Mawokota FC have named Richard Malinga as their head coach ahead of the 2020 Masaza Cup.

Malinga is a former Uganda Cranes and KCCA FC right back who hopes to bring back the past glory days at Mawokota.

Mawokota is one of the most successful counties in the Masaza Cup, having won it on three separate occasions.

Only Gomba, with five titles, have won the Masaza Cup on more occasions than Mawokota.

However, Mawokota last triumph dates back to 2013. They also won it in 2007 and 2005.

Malinga replaces Ssaka Mpima who was at the helms last year Mawokota failed to make it out of their group.

The KCCA FC tactician is one of the academy coaches at the club.

Malinga will be assisted by Yahiya Brazilian as the assistant coach with Ben Mugisha in charge of goalkeeping.

Robert Omonyi, Jamadah Mugassi, Tonny Katamba and Faizal Kizito are the other members on the Mawokota technical team.

The Masaza Cup is expected to kickoff at some point in June although that is a major doubt with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Bulemezi are the defending champions of the competition having defeated Busiro in last year’s final played at Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.
