Kyetume FC ensured they reached the last 8 of the Uganda Cup thanks to a penalty shootout victory over Maroons FC.

After a 1-1 draw in normal time, the Slaughters who have noq won four of their last seven games in all competitions, converted all their penalties while Maroons missed one to win 5-4.

In a game that saw both sides miss influential players due to national team commitments, Bakar Buyala put Kyetume ahead on the half hour mark, a lead they held onto until the break.

However, Abraham Tusubira levelled for Maroons on 58 minutes.

Neither side could find the winner in the last 22 minutes, forcing them to head to penalties.

Custodian Salim Sowedi who was standing in for Joel Mutakubwa who is with the Uganda Cranes team preparing for the 2020 CHAN, proved to be thw hero as he saved Tusibira’s kick and ensure the Slaughters who converted all of their five kick, reach the last 8.
