Jude Ssemugabi was the star of the show on Wednesday afternoon as Mbarara City FC defeated Bright Stars.

The Ankole Lions who registered their second successive victory walked away 3-1 winners on the day.

Ssemugabi who came off the bench to replace Ivan Eyam scored a brace to help his side to victory.

He opened the scoring four minutes after coming on as he poked home a Jasper Ahebwa cross on 50 minutes.

With Bright Stars searching for a leveler, Ssemugabi completed his brace on 78 minutes to double the visitors advantage.

Solomon Okwalinga sealed all the three points with three minutes on the clock off a curling effort.

Deep into added on time, Bernard Muwanga pulled a goal back for the hosts but it was too late to mount a come back.

At the end of the game, Ssemugabi was named man-of-the-match for his performance on the day.

Victory sees Mbarara City maintain 7th spot with 33 points from their opening 25 games.

For Bright Stars, they drop to 10th with 29 points.
