Uganda Cup – Round of 32

The Uganda Cup round of 32 will continue on Wednesday with two games.

Express FC will host Maroons at the Kavumba Recreation Grounds in Wakiso.

The Red Eagles are looking to win a second straight game under Wasswa Bbosa.

Bbosa took over following the sucking of George Ssemwogerere last week and started off with a hard fought 1-0 victory away to Onduparaka FC.

There seems to be a feel good factor at the club currently and they will be fancying their chances against Maroons.

“We believe we can win the game because we have prepared well, said Bbosa ahead of the game.

“It will not be an easy encounter be cause they are a top flight club but we have our own ambitions and are not willing to let Maroons loose.”

Express are the record winners of the competition having won 10 titles in the past (same as KCCA FC).

However thir last triumph came in 2006/07, something Wasswa is well aware of.

“We have taken over 10 years without winning the cup and it is something we want to address, he continued.

“We are five or six games away from winning it and we will take each contest like a final.”

Express will be without Lawrence Kigonya who was shown red in the win over Onduparaka last Friday. He joins Hamdan Nsubuga and Cyrus Kibande on the side lines. First choice goalkeeper Mathais Muwanga has recovered from a finger injury and is expected to feature.

For Maroons, they will be hoping to snap a three match winless run.

Since they defeated Young Elephants in the round of 64, Douglas Bamweyana’s side has gone on to lose twice and draw the other of their three games.

The Uganda Cup looks to be their most realistic chance at winning silverware this season and they will have to take it serious.

When these two sides met earlier in the season, they drew 2-2 at FUFA Technical Center in Njeru, in the league.

The other game on Tuesday will see URA FC host Nyamityobora at the Arena of Visions in Bombo.
