Uganda was eliminated from the FIFA U20 Women World Cup qualifiers on Saturday after a 2-1 second-leg loss to Tanzania.

Having lost by the same score line in the first leg, Olive Mbekeka’s side knew that a 1-0 victory would see them through to the next round.

Midfielder Phiona Nabbumba handed them a priceless lead on 48 minutes off a Juliet Nalukenge pass but they could not hold on to it.

Diana Mswea equalized for Tanzania on 59 minutes before Clement Opa completed the turn around to hand the visitors victory.

Tanzania progresses to the next round of qualification with a 4-2 aggregate victory.

They will now play the winner between Senegal and Sierra Leone at the next stage.

Daphine Nyayenga (GK), Aisha Namukisa, Asia Nakibuuka, Shadia Nankya (C), Phiona Nabumba, Juliet Nalukenge, Lilian Mutuuzo, Fauzia Najjemba, Bira Nadunga, Teddy Najjuma
