The Uganda national men’s football team, the Cranes have been drawn in group C of the 2020 Confederations of African Nations Championship (CHAN).
This was revealed on Monday evening following a dra conducted in Yaounde, Cameroon.
The Cranes who overcame both Somalia and Burundi in the qualifiers will tussle it out with defending champions Morocco, neighbours Rwanda and Togo for a slot in the quarter finals.
This will be the fifth time Uganda is taking part in the CHAN having appeared in the 2011, 2014, 2016 and 2018 editions.
Jonathan McKinstry’s side will first take on Rwanda, then face Togo before completing the group stage with a date with Morocco.
They have never progressed passed the group stages with their best performance coming in 2014 as they gathered four points in the group.
In the other groups, hosts Cameroon will face Mali, Burkina Faso and Zimbabwe in Group A.
Group B consists of Libya, DR Congo, Congo Brazaville and Niger while Group D consists of Zambia, Guinea, Namibia and Tanzania.
The tournament will take place in the cities of Yaounde, Doula and Limbe between 4th – 25th April.
Morocco are the defending champions of the competition having defeated Nigeria 4-0 in the 2018 final.
