KAMPALA – Kirizestom Ntambi is yet to return to Wakiso Giants FC following the Uganda Premier League mid-season break.
The crafty midfielder was supposed to return to training late December along with his teammates but up to now, his whereabouts are not known.
According to a credible source, Ntambi is AWOL and will not return to the club.
“Ntambi has refused to return to the club as he eyes a move away, narrated a source that preferred anonymity.
“He was supposed to return with the other players for the second round but he (Ntambi) claims he wants out and will not play for Wakiso again.”
Ntambi has been with the Purple Sharks since last summer when he joined them as a free agent.
He has been a mainstay in the side as they bid to retain their top-flight status at the first time of asking.
It is believed that the appointment of Livingstone Mbabazi as head coach also has a big play in Ntambi’s would-be exit as both individuals do not see eye to eye because of their past.
PML Daily has learnt that Ntambi is eyeing a move to a unnamed Vietnamese side and will complete the deal before the end of January.
When approached for a comment, Wakiso Giants FC CEO Sula Kamoga refuted the claims, saying the player is just injured.
“Ntambi is not with us because he is injured and he will be back as soon as he overcomes the injury, said Kamoga.
“I do not know where you get the information from but trust me, Ntambi is still at Wakiso.”
Ntambi participated in the Bayern-Uganda Gala that is played on the first day of every year. This puts Kamoga’s submission of him being injured in question as the midfielder looked healthy at the event hosted in Munyonyo.
It has also been established that Ntambi has an open contract with the Purple Sharks, one that allows him to leave them as soon as he gets a deal outside the country.
Whether he is trying to exploit the terms in his contract or he is indeed injured remains a question.
Meanwhile, Wakiso Giants FC are preparing to face Police FC at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakkisha on Saturday.
Ntambi will definitely not be part of the team for the above mentioned game.
Wakiso sits 7th with 20 points from their first 15 games.
