City Oilers are the FUBA National Basketball League Champions once again.
The City Oil financed side who have now won all the last seven league titles overcame a spirited UCU Canons outfit to win the best of seven series 4-3 in what was a hotly contested final.
On Sunday, they beat the Canons 72-57 to ensure they seal the title despite losing three games along the way.
The combination of Power Forwards Landry Ndikumana and captain James Okello ensured victory was Oilers’ as they put out an inspired performance in games Seven.
Ndikumana who struggled in game six, registered a double double of 26 points and 11 rebounds while Okello managed 11 points and 17 boards.
Jimmy Enabu was the other who managed double figures in terms of scoring as he posted 16 points.
For UCU, David Deng Kongor once again top-scored for them with 21 points followed by Titus Lual who managed 13.
It was a contest that saw Oilers trail only once, conceding the first points of the game as Fayed Baale sank a layup inside the opening minute.
From there onwards, Oilers exerted their dominance, winning the first quarter 17-9.
UCU would win the second17-08 and trail by just a point at the long break.
The third belonged to Oilers who took it 22-15 and ensured they led by 8 (49-41) going into the final 10 minutes.
Oilers were all about preserving their caution in the final quarter and managed to win it 23-15 and seal a 72-57 victory in the end.
It is now official that JKL Lady Dolphins and City Oilers are the women’s and men’s FUBA NBL Champions 2019, respectively.
