Uganda Premier League
Express FC 3-0 Proline FC
Kavumba Recreation Grounds, Wakiso
Saturday, 18-01-2020

Express FC returned to winning ways on Saturday with a convincing victory over Proline FC on Saturday.

The Red Eagles who were humiliated 6-1 by Police FC on Wednesday, produced a fine performance at both ends to win 3-0 at Kavumba Recreation Grounds in Wakiso.

Denis Sserukwaya’s penalty, an own goal by Arnold Sserujongi and an Ivan Ocholit strike did the trick for George Ssemwogerere’s side.

With usual taker Frank Kalanda absent, Sserukwaya took over the responsibility from the spot to open the scoring on 8 minutes after Ivan Ocholit was fouled inside the area.

Three minutes later, Daniel Shabena saw his effort deflected into the net by Sserunjogi as the Red Eagles doubled their advantage.

The third would come in the second half as Ochoit got in on the act with his maiden goal of the season.

Proline who have now losy two of their three second round games could have put up a better fight but they could just not beat the brilliant Mathais Muwanga in the Express goal.

For his heroics, Muwanga would eventually be named man of the match in the end.

Towards the end of the game, Hakim Kiwanuka missed a chance to pull on back for the visitors as he failed to convert from the spot after Roger Mato was judged to have handled in the area.

The result means Express FC climbs to 11th on the standings with 21 points from 18 games.

For Proline, they remain rooted at the foot of the log with just 12 points.

In their next fixtures, Express face arch rivals SC Villa away from home on Wednesday while Proline hosts Police FC at Lugogo a day before.

The other games played on Saturday

-Busoga United FC 1-0 Mbarara City FC
-URA FC 1-0 Bright Stars FC
-Maroons FC 2-0 BUL FC
