KAMPALA – Maroons FC striker Fahad Bayo was on Monday, December 9th, named the Uganda Premier League best player of the month of November.

This was confirmed at a press conference held at Kati Kati Restaurant in Kampala.

Mukwala was on-form in November, scoring seven goals and winning two Man of the match awards.

His seven goals came against Police F (2), Express, Busoga, Wakiso Giants FC (2) and Proline FC while the two Man of the match performances were against Police and Wakiso.

To scoop the award, Mukwala beat KCCA FC duo of striker Sam Ssenyonjo and playmaker Allan Okello.

Ssenyonjo and Okello scored three and four goals respectively in November.

At the same ceremony, KCCA FC head coach Douglas Bamweyana was named the best coach of November.

In November, Mutebi led KCCA FC to seven victories in 9 games as they defeated SC Villa, Tooro United FC, Proline FC, Police FC, Express FC, Vipers SC and Kyetume FC.

The victories eventually saw KCCA FC climb up the table and finish the second round in second spot.

Both Mukwala and Mutebi were given accolades and Shs 1,000,000 each.

What they said during the awards ceremony:

Steven Mukwala

“This is a big achievement for me.

“I thank my coach Douglas Bamweyana who has improved me a lot this season. He has instilled confidence in me and given me enough playing time and I credit him so much for this.”

Mike Mutebi

“It is for those lads I coach.

“They (players) have shown the right attitude, worked hard and they have done things perfectly.

“I commend them for adhering to what they are supposed to do. They have exemplified what they have to do in the last six or seven goals.”

Uganda Premier League awards are held at the beginning of the month, recognizing the past month’s best individual player and coach.
