The Uganda 17 Girls team will be crowned champions of the inaugural CECAFA U17 Girls Cup with victory over Kenya on Tuesday afternoon.

Ayub Khalifa’s side have had a decent tournament so far and sit top of the round-robin group after four games.

Three victories and a draw see Uganda with a total of 10 points, two ahead of second-placed Tanzania with only a game to play.

If Uganda beats Kenya, they will not need to worry about Tanzania’s result in their game against Djibouti as their 13 points would be unmatchable.

Uganda can also still win it if Tanzania fails to beat Djibouti and Khalifa’s side picks a point off Kenya.

However, it is not an easy game as Kenya can also still win it.

The Kenyans start the day in third with 7 points from four games and know that a 12-goal victory over Uganda coupled by Tanzania not beating Djibouti will see them win the competition.

If Uganda loses to Kenya, Tanzania will be crowned champions with a victory over Djibouti.

Current CECAFA U17 Girls Cup table standings

  1. Uganda -10
  2. Tanzania – 8
  3. Kenya – 7
  4. Burundi – 4
  5. Eritrea – 4
  6. Djibouti – 0
