Uganda Premier League
Express FC 1-3 KCCA FC
Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Wakissha

KCCA FC continued their winning run as they took care of Express FC 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

Sadat Enaku, Mike Mutyaba and a Yiga Muhammad own goal did the trick for the Kasasiros while Frank Kalanda scored the home side’s consolation.

This is KCCA FC’s fourth successive victory in the league and it sees them climb into 5th on the log with 19 points from 9 games.

The game started slowly with both sides intent on not conceding first.

Out of nothing, KCCA FC opened the scoring through youngster Sadat Anaku. The 19 year old charged down Martin Kizza’s clearance before setting him self up and firing past a stranded Tony Kyamera in the Express goal.

Muzamir Mutyaba could have doubled the Kasasiros’ lead instantly but his tame effort off an Erisa Ssekisambu low cross was comfortably saved.

However, the former Red Eagle would not be denied twice as he poked home another Ssekisambu low cross to hand KCCA a two goal lead inside 18 minutes.

Express were struggling to get to grips with the game and as frustration started to set in, Frank Kalanda tried his luck from distance but shot over.

With things not going their way, Express made a tactical substitution on 29 minutes with Denis Sserukwaya taken off and replaced by Shafik Avemah.

Towards the end of the first half, the Red Eagles got two quick-fire chances to get back into the game but could not capitalize.

First, Disan Ggaliwango played Kalanda through on goal with a cautioned header but Jamil Malyamungu-in the KCCA FC goal, dived low to concede a corner. From the resultant kick, Kalande headed wide from a good position with Malyamungu stranded.

At the start of the second half, John Odem Odumegwu replaced the injured Anaku as the Kasairos were forced to make a first change.

They could have put the game to bed in the early exchanges but Ssekisambu’s volleyed effort brushed off the cross bar and out for just a goal kick.

Gift Ali then sent a fierce shot towards goal but Kyamera was this time equal to the test.

With 19 minutes to play, Yiga Muhammad put through his own net to ensure KCCA FC disappear out of sight.

The right-back could not sort his feet after Muzamir Mutyaba brushed Mustafa Kizza’s free-kick, side footing past Kyamera for 3-0.

However, Express would not go down without a fight as Frank Kalanda pulled one back from the penalty spot after Filbert Obenchan was judged to have illegally brought down Frank Ssenyondo in the KCCA FC area.

The Red Eagles looked intent on finding another but Ssenyondo mis-controlled a magnificent pass over the top from Ggaliwango, while one on one with Malyamungu.

The last chance of the game fell to Muzamir who shot wide from just outside the area.

In their next engagements, KCCA FC will host leaders Vipers SC while Express are away to Tooro United FC.
