Vipers SC maintained top spot in the Uganda Premier League following a goalless draw away to Onudparaka at the Green Light Stadium in Arua on Saturday.

The Venoms who came into the game a point above second placed BUL FC, looked the better side on the day but could not bleach the Caterpillars defence in the end.

Onduparaka had goalkeeper Yusuf Wasswa to thank for the man of the match performance.

Mukisa pulled off two stunning saves in the second half to deny Fahad Bayo first and then Ashraf Mugume.

The Venoms had earlier threatened to take the lead but Paul Willa sent a free kick wide before Bayo headed the former’s cross off target.

The Venoms felt they should have been awarded a penalty at the stroke of halftime but the referee waved-away appeals after Frank Tumwesigye fell-over in the box

Onduparaka also created chances of their own.

Ceaser Ochuti fired wide after good inter-play with Gadafi Wahabu.

Adriko saw a cross-shot rattle the cross bar before Wahab shot tamely at Fabien Mutombora in the Vipers goal, while in a good position.

The draw leaves Vipers SC top of the table on 21 points, two ahead of second placed BUL.

Onduparaka FC remains 4th on the log with 16 points from their first 9 game.

In their next assignments, Vipers are away to Kyetume FC while Onduparaka entertains Tooro United FC.
