LUZIRA – KCCA FC required two late goals to take care of Maroons FC in one of the three Uganda Premier league games played on Tuesday.

With the game locked at 1-1 and deep into additional time, Mustapha Kizza and Joghn Odumegwu scored two quick-fire goals to ensure KCCA win the contest 3-1.

Kizza converted from the spot after Sylvester Okello was judged to have handled Odumegwu’s cross.

For Odumegwu, the Nigerian headed in substitute Erisa Ssekisambu’s cross following wonderful work by the immensely talented Allan Okello.

Earlier, Mike Mutyaba had opened the scoring as he pounced onto a lose ball after goalkeeper Hannington Ssebwalunyo had failed to hold onto a Samuel Kato effort.

Solomon Walusimbi levelled matters with 23 minutes to play but it was as close they Maroons got to earning a point on the day.

It was an open game that saw both side create a host of chances.

Steven Mukwala saw a volleyed effort blocked by Kato in the opening exchanges.

Edgar Bwogi crossed low but his delicious ball missed a host of Maroons players as it crept past the goal mouth.

Puis Obuya had a goal disallowed correctly for offside.

KCCA could have scored more than they did but Okello couldn’t beat Ssebwalunyo. He first fired wide before seeing an effort saved by the former BUL FC custodian.

Mike Mutyaba also saw and effort rattle the woodwork in the second half.

This is KCCA FC’s 5th win of the season and it sees them climb into 5th on the log with 13 points.

For Maroons, they drop into 9th with 13 points from 9 games.
