Uganda Cranes head coach Johnathan McKinstry has made two changes to the team that will face Ethiopia in an international friendly on Sunday.

Uganda will take on Walia Ibex at the Bahrdar Stadium in Ethiopia in what will be McKinstry’s first game in charge of the team.

The North Irishman was named head coach of the team at the start of this month (October), replacing Sebastien Desabre who terminated his contract after Uganda was eliminated from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Having earlier named a squad of 20 which did not include any local-based players, he has made alterations to it.

Mike Azira who plays at Chicago Fire in the USA has been left out with Wakiso Giants’ Krezistom Ntambi and Allan Kayiwa of Vipers SC included.

The reason for Azira’s exclusion remains a mystery but PML Daily sources confirmed that he turned down the call-up due to club engagements.

An advanced party led by ex-SC Villa assistant Paul Mukatabala is understood to have flown off to Ethiopia to ensure that all is well when the Cranes jet in later in the week.

McKinstry will be assisted by Charles Livingstone Mbabazi, Fred Kajoba (goalkeeping coach), McCarthy Alexander Michael (fitness coach), Emmanuel Nakabago (team doctor) and Frank Bumpenje as the kits manager.
